Description

This is a late 18th-century house, originally part of the Barton Leather Works, located on the south side of West Street in Earls Barton. A datestone reads “TCBl1752/TG.” The building is constructed of squared coursed lias stone with a limestone plinth, topped with a slate roof. It has an L-shaped plan and two storeys with an attic.

The front facade has a three-window arrangement, now reduced to two, featuring 19th-century casement windows under wooden lintels. A central 19th-century panelled door has a glazed top light and a flight of steps leading up to it. A cellar window is present on the left side, defined by a moulded stone surround. The gable has an ashlar parapet, kneelers, and brick stacks at the ends. The rear of the house is similar in appearance, with a projecting wing and a plank door under a wooden lintel. A two-storey, one-window extension was added in the late 19th century to the right. The interior has not been inspected.
