Description
Jacob's Rock is a house located on North Street in Middle Barton, dating from the mid-18th century. It is constructed from colourwashed coursed limestone rubble and features a gabled artificial stone slate roof with a rendered stack at the right end. The building has an L-plan layout with a rear left wing and stands two storeys tall, displaying an irregular two-window range.
There is a timber lintel over a blocked door, with a 20th-century window to the left. The house also has timber lintels over two 20th-century casements. To the right, there is a mid to late 19th-century one-storey range that includes a double entry and a corrugated iron roof. The two-storey rear left range has an asbestos sheet roof and features timber lintels over a 20th-century door, a 19th-century plank door, a 19th-century three-light casement, and one-light leaded casements. Although the interior has not been inspected, it is likely to be of interest. The building is included for its group value with nearby structures.
