Description

Number 44 and 46, also known as Horseshoe Cottage, are two houses dating from the early 17th century, with an 18th-century bay added to the left and a 2-bay cottage on the right also dating to the early 18th century. They are constructed of coursed limestone rubble with a gabled thatched roof, and have brick ridge and end stacks. The houses have a 3-unit plan, arranged over two storeys, with a 5-window range. Timber lintels are above the 20th-century front door and casement windows. Inside, a chamfered beam is visible to the left. The central room, which appears to be from the early 17th century, has a deeply-chamfered beam and an open fireplace with a chamfered bressumer. Due to a partial inspection, further details of the interior are limited.
