Description
Holliers Farmhouse and the attached barn and stable range are located on Mill Lane in Middle Barton. The farmhouse dates back to 1714, as indicated by a datestone, and is built from coursed limestone rubble with a gabled stone slate roof and end stacks made of stone finished in brick. It features a two-unit plan, is two storeys high with an attic, and has a symmetrical three-window arrangement. The building has flat stone arches above a 20th-century door and windows, along with a 20th-century gabled roof dormer.
To the right of the farmhouse is an earlier 17th-century two-bay range, which has banded ironstone walls and a brick ridge stack. At the rear, there is a stair-turret and a small dairy covered with a corrugated iron roof. Inside, the farmhouse includes 18th-century bolection-panelled doors, panelled doors, and plank doors, with winder stairs—partly renewed in the 20th century—leading to the attic. A fine large bolection-moulded fireplace is located to the right, while the 17th-century bays to the right feature stop-chamfered beams.
The stable and barn range to the right is constructed from limestone rubble and has a corrugated iron roof. The stables on the left have timber lintels over openings at the rear, and the barn has a large double entry with a 20th-century roof structure.
