Description

No. 6 Church Lane is a public house that has been converted into a house. It dates from the early 18th century and 19th century. The building features regular coursed limestone with original plain-tile and slate roofs and has an L-shaped plan. It is two storeys high with an attic. The road-facing elevation has a two-window range, with 20th-century casements on the left in original openings under gauged stone arches, and a 20th-century staircase window on the right. The gable parapets are made of ashlar, and there are ashlar stacks at the ends. Attached to the right is a single-storey, two-window range built of 19th-century brick, which has a 20th-century door. The left elevation is similar, featuring casements under wooden lintels, but is now blank. There is one hipped roof dormer. The rear elevation is similar to the front. Inside, the building has chamfered spine beams, an open fireplace with a bressumer, and another fireplace with a stone surround made from the cills of mullion windows.
