Description
The stables at Wollaston Hall, dating from around 1738, are now used as a laboratory. They are built from limestone ashlar and feature a 20th-century plain-tile roof. The structure has a half H-plan and is two storeys high. The main front has a seven-window range, with a blank triple arcade in the center that includes a sash window with glazing bars in each arch. Flanking this are two-window ranges of sashes that reduce in size at the first floor, also with glazing bars and gauged stone heads. A moulded stone cornice runs along the top, topped by a plain parapet. The hipped roof is adorned with a central clock turret and cupola. The right elevation mirrors this with a five-window range. At the rear, projecting wings create three sides of a courtyard. There have been some alterations made in the 20th century, and the interior has not been inspected.
