Description
This building, located at 86-88 Main Street, is a house that has been converted into two dwellings. It dates from the late 17th century and was altered in the early 19th century. The structure is made of squared coursed limestone and features a pantile roof. Originally, it had a three-unit plan and stands two storeys tall.
The front has a six-window range of casements, some of which have leaded lights, all set beneath wooden lintels. The first-floor windows are adorned with brick dressings and gablets above. There are three 19th-century plank doors positioned between the window ranges, also under wooden lintels. Brick stacks are located at the ridge and the end of the building. The bay on the far right was likely an outbuilding that was remodeled in the early 19th century by the Lilford estate.
Inside No. 88, there is an open fireplace featuring a bressumer and stop-chamfered spine beams. This building is included for its group value.
