Description

This is an early 18th-century house situated on the west side of Main Street in Aldwinckle. It is constructed of regular coursed limestone with a thatched roof and has an L-shaped plan. The house is two storeys high and originally had a two-window facade featuring casement windows with glazing bars, all under wooden lintels. A central, part-glazed door, also under a wooden lintel, was added in the 19th century, and a 20th-century porch now protects it. The right-hand gable has an ashlar parapet, while the left-hand side has a hipped roof. There is a brick stack at the end of the building, and a rebuilt lateral stack to the left. Inside, the house retains an open fireplace with a bressumer and ceiling beams.
