Description
Grey Gables is a house dating from 1759, as indicated by the datestone. It is constructed of regularly coursed limestone, which is now painted, and features a pantile roof. The original design was a two-unit plan. The house has two storeys and a two-window range that is positioned at right angles to the road. It includes 19th-century casement windows with wood lintels. To the left, there is a 19th-century part-glazed door, also under a wood lintel. The roof features a central dormer, ashlar gable parapets, and kneelers. At the rear, there is a rebuilt lateral brick stack. Attached to the left is a similar 19th-century range with a lower eaves level, which has a casement window on the first floor to the right and a square bay window below. The right gable, which abuts the road, has 19th-century canted bays on both the ground and first floors, along with a datestone in the apex. The interior has not been inspected. The building is included for its group value.
