Description

St Peter’s Cottage is a late 18th-century building, originally three separate houses, now combined into a single dwelling. It is located on the west side of Main Street, Aldwinclе. The construction uses squared coursed limestone with ashlar dressings, topped with a Collyweston slate roof. Originally designed as a two-unit plan, the cottage now features a two-storey elevation with a two-window range on the right-hand side, which was originally a separate house. The windows are leaded casements with gauged stone heads and ashlar dressings. A six-panel door is situated to the far right, sheltered by a flat wooden hood. There is an ashlar gable parapet to the left, and brick stacks are present at both ends of the building. A fire insurance plaque is positioned above the door.

The two-window range on the right has an open fireplace with a bressumer beam. The central two-window range contains a reset early 19th-century fireplace with flanking cupboards. Some original stud walls are visible at the first floor level. The left-hand section of the cottage was rebuilt in the mid-20th century, resulting in a four-window range.
