Description

This is a late 18th-century house located on the south side of Cross Lane, Aldwinckle. The house is built of regular coursed limestone, with a pantile and concrete tile roof. Originally planned as a two-unit dwelling, it now appears as a two-storey, two-bay structure with a one-window range. The windows are 19th-century casements beneath wooden lintels. A 20th-century entrance door is centrally placed, also beneath a wooden lintel. The left-hand gable has an ashlar parapet, and brick stacks are located at the ends of the building. A lean-to extension with a catslide roof of concrete tiles is attached to the right-hand bay. A small, leaded window is visible on the return wall. A 20th-century single-storey extension is present at the rear. The interior was not inspected, but it is believed to retain the original roof structure. It is likely that an open fireplace once existed, although it is now blocked.
