Description
Brigstock Mill is a watermill located approximately 150 meters northeast of The Manor House. It likely has origins in the 18th century, with most of its structure dating from the mid-19th century. The building is constructed from squared coursed limestone and features Welsh and Collyweston slate roofs. It has an irregular L-shaped plan and stands two storeys high, with some parts including a loft and basement.
The mill has a six-window range of 20th-century casements set in original openings, all under shallow stone arches. There are rectangular basement window openings, some of which retain original casements. A 20th-century door is located at the far right, accessed by a flight of 20th-century steps. The rear elevation is similar to the front.
On the left gable of the main front, there is a cast-iron waterwheel attached, with a lean-to structure above it. The right gable shows evidence of earlier construction. There is also a range of buildings attached at right angles to the rear, which are similar in style. A central door on the first floor is accessed by a flight of wooden steps. At the far end of this range, abutting Mill Lane, is a building that is likely from the late 18th century, featuring a hipped roof covered with Collyweston slates. The interior has not been inspected, but it is noted to contain cast-iron columns and remnants of drive shafts from the waterwheel.
