Description

This is a late 17th and early 18th century house, with additions from the mid-19th century, located in Lathah Street, Brigstock. The house is constructed of limestone ashlar and squared coursed limestone, with corrugated asbestos and concrete tile roofing. Originally designed with a two-unit plan, it is a single-story building with an attic. The front elevation features a two-window range at ground floor, with 20th-century casement windows set within original openings and beneath wooden lintels. Dormer windows with 19th-century casements are found in the attic, also with wooden lintels. A central door features six panels and glazed toplights, also beneath a wooden lintel. A fire window is located to the far left, and a boot scraper recess is positioned to the left of the door. Brick and stone stacks are situated at the ends of the building. A mid-19th century outbuilding, now incorporated into the main house, extends to the left, presenting a two-window range with 20th-century casements and wooden lintels. Inside, the room to the left of the entrance retains a visible open fireplace with a bressumer, chamfered spine beams, and a two-panel door.
