Description

House. Dating to the mid-to-late 17th century, with alterations in the 18th and 19th centuries. The house is constructed of squared coursed limestone with Collyweston and Welsh slate roofs. Originally planned as two units, it now presents a three-window facade on the ground floor and a two-window facade on the first floor, with 19th-century casement windows under wooden lintels. A fire window is located on the far right, and a 20th-century door is positioned to the left of the centre, also under a wooden lintel. Evidence suggests some re-fenestration occurred at ground floor level. Ashlar gable parapets are present, with moulded decorative elements on the left gable. Brick and stone stacks mark the ridge and ends of the building. A single bay attached to the left, likely dating to the 18th century and in a matching style, was originally a separate dwelling. The rear of the building features some 20th-century windows and doors. Inside, the room to the right of the entrance has an open fireplace with a bressumer, and a stop-chamfer to the corner of the fireplace is repeated on the spine beam. On the first floor to the right, a 17th-century fireplace is present, featuring a simple segmental arch head. The base of a collar truss is visible in that room.
