Description
This building is an outbuilding attached to a house that was originally a public house known as the Golden Lion. It dates from the 17th century, was raised in the late 18th century, and extended in the 19th century. The structure is made of regularly coursed limestone and has a concrete tile roof. It features a two-unit plan with a carriage arch on the right side. The building has two storeys and a four-window range with 2- and 3-light 19th-century casements beneath wooden lintels. The 20th-century door has a 19th-century wooden surround with a flat hood. The carriage arch, located in the far right bay, is a later addition and has plank doors under a wooden lintel. The building has an ashlar gable parapet and kneelers along the party wall on the left side, with brick stacks and ashlar plinths on the right and at the end. Attached to the rear is a late 18th-century, two-storey outbuilding that has a weatherboarded front. Inside the house, there are ceiling beams, a blocked 17th-century window to the left of the entrance, and an upper cruck roof construction. This building is included for its group value.
