Description

The Green Dragon is a public house dating to the late 17th century, with subsequent remodelling in the 18th century and an extension in the 19th century. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone with a slate roof. Originally built with a 3-unit plan, the building now presents a 4-window range at the first floor, featuring casement windows with glazing bars under wooden lintels. The ground floor to the right has 2- and 3-light stone mullion windows, while a 6-light stone mullion bay window is situated to the left. A central 20th-century door has a 4-centred arch head under a wooden lintel. Brick and stone stacks are visible at the ridge and end of the building. A T-shape range attached to the left is part single storey, with a 2-window range of early 20th-century casements to the left. A gabled cross wing projects forward to the right of the centre, incorporating casement windows under wooden lintels. A 20th-century door, to the right of the cross wing, also features a 4-centred arch head under a wooden lintel. Ashlar gable parapets are topped with reset corbels displaying carved faces on the left-hand gable. The range to the left may have originally been a separate building, and the interior retains ceiling beams.
