Description
These are two barns located 10 meters west of numbers 3 and 3A on Desborough Road, dating from the mid to late 18th century. They are built from coursed and squared limestone and feature conventional and patent pantile roofs, with concrete and rubble plinths and coped gables. The barns are two storeys high and arranged in an L-plan with three bays.
The north barn has a pair of close boarded doors, each with wooden lintels, and a small rectangular opening between them, along with three pitch holes above. The north side includes a near-central square hatch and a gabled cross eaves dormer with a loading door to the right. The west gable has a 20th-century door to the right and a central slatted casement above.
The west barn features a full height cart passage on the right, a stable door with a slatted overlight on the left, and a slatted casement to the right of the stable door. The rear of the west barn has a blocked doorway with an overlight and a pitch hole above, to the right. Both barns have a principal rafter roof supported by double butt purlins and collars.
