Description

The Nunnery is a farmhouse, now divided into two houses, dating from 1660. It is constructed of coursed and squared ironstone with limestone and brick dressings, featuring plain tile and thatched roofs. The building has a rubble plinth and includes an off-centre coped stone ridge stack, a brick ridge stack, and a stone gable stack that has been rebuilt in brick.

The structure is two storeys high and consists of four bays in a single range. The street front showcases a central narrow gabled two-storey porch, which has a moulded Tudor arched doorcase and recessed Tudor arched jambs with decorated spandrels, leading to a 17th-century plank door. Above the door is a lozenge-shaped datestone inscribed 'J T B 1660'. Above this, there is a stepped head three-light mullioned casement. To the left of the door, there are a four-light and a two-light casement, both from the mid-20th century. To the right, there are two three-light transomed steel framed casements. Further along, there is a blocked window and a cellar opening below it. Above, to the left, is a three-light casement, and to the right are two three-light casements with eyebrow dormers. All these openings feature wooden lintels.

At the rear, there is a near-central semi-circular thatched projection, flanked by mid-20th century single-storey additions with corrugated sheet roofs. Beyond these additions, to the right, are the remains of two mullioned casements.
