Description

The war memorial, located on Squire's Hill in Rothwell, was restored and remodeled from a market cross in 1921. It is made of limestone and designed in the Decorated style. The memorial features an octagonal base with two steps that supports a moulded square pedestal. Each face of the pedestal has an inscribed bronze tablet. Above this, there is a broached octagonal shaft topped with a square Decorated tabernacle. The tabernacle includes four ogee niches, each containing a symbolic figure.
