Description
Rothwell House Hotel, originally a vicarage, dates from around 1800. It is constructed of ironstone with a brick front range and features hipped and gabled roofs made of Welsh slate. The building has a plinth, a first-floor band, and two side wall brick stacks. It is three storeys high and has three bays, arranged in an L-plan.
The south front includes a central full-height round-headed recess that contains a half-glazed panelled door with a fanlight, flanked by single 8/8 sash windows. Above this, there is a central round-headed sash window flanked by single flat-headed 8/8 sashes. Further up, there is a central round window flanked by single 4/8 sashes. All of these openings feature rubbed brick heads. There are also flat-roofed 20th-century additions in the return angle, which are not of special architectural interest.
