Description

ROTHWELL HIGH STREET SP 8081-8181 (south west side) 9/71 No 37 (Town Farmhouse) GV II Farmhouse, now a house. Early and mid C18 with C19 additions. Coursed and squared ironstone with steep pitched Welsh slate roof with rear catslide. Plinth, coped gables, 2 C18 brick gable and single ridge stacks plus off-centre coped stone ridge stack. 2 storeys plus attics, 4 bays. North east side has to right symmetrical front with central wooden doorcase and elaborate brackets to hood. 5-panel early C19 door, the top 2 panels glazed. On either side, a 2-light casement. Above the door, a blank window flanked by single similar casements. All these windows have keystone flat arches. To the left, 2 C19 glazing bar sashes and above, a 2-light casement, all with flat arches. Above again, 3 flat roofed dormers with C20 casements. Rear has to right a short wing and to its left an outshut with catslide roof, and C19 additions. Mainly C20 fenestration.
