Description

Loddington Farmhouse is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house. It dates from the mid-17th century, with 18th-century additions and mid-19th-century alterations. The building is constructed from coursed and squared ironstone and brick featuring flared headers, with limestone dressings and roofs made of hipped and gabled Welsh slate. The gables are coped with kneelers, and there are central ridge and single side wall brick stacks. The farmhouse is two storeys high plus garrets and has three bays. Originally designed in an L-plan, it now has two ranges.

The double-gabled south front includes, on the left, a central four-light mullioned casement on each floor, and a similar three-light casement in the garret, all featuring hood moulds. The right gable has a tall six-over-six sash window, with a smaller sash above it. On the west front, there is a 19th-century part-glazed door with an overlight and a slated hood on brackets to the left. To the right, there is a tall early 19th-century eight-over-twelve sash and a smaller six-over-six sash, both with wooden lintels.

The east side features a two-storey projecting wing to the left with a small sash window to the right on each floor. The setback 17th-century wing to the right has a small casement on each floor and a two-light mullioned casement with a hood mould in the garret. On the north side, there is a three-light mullioned cellar window to the left, with a small casement above it and a round-headed stair light, both from the 19th century, featuring margin lights. Inside, the farmhouse has chamfered spine beams, one of which has 17th-century stops, and two 18th-century two-panel doors.
