Description

Loddington House is a house dating from around 1840, which includes a late 18th-century north wing. The building is finished in stucco and features a hipped slate roof. It has a plinth, a first-floor band, and dentillated eaves, with three ridge stacks and a single side wall stack. The house is two storeys high and has four bays, forming an L-plan.

The front of the house has an off-centre wooden porch with latticework that covers a half-glazed door surrounded by pilasters. To the left of the porch is a tripartite sash window, and to the right is a canted bay window with three plain sashes. Above the door, there is a round-headed sash window, flanked on the left by an 8/12 sash and on the right by a smaller similar sash, all of which have moulded hoods. Further to the left, there is a hipped two-storey square bay window featuring a French window with flanking lights, and above it is another tripartite sash window.

At the south end, there is a hipped 20th-century porch with plastic Doric piers and a 19th-century half-glazed door with a geometrical overlight. The street side of the house has a rusticated basement and two 6/6 sash windows with moulded hoods on each floor.

Inside, there is a notable mid-19th-century open well staircase that follows the curved west wall, featuring a turned balustrade and a wreathed mahogany handrail, along with moulded cornices. The older kitchen wing contains chamfered spine beams.
