Description
The war memorial in Tring, located in the churchyard on the south side, was created around 1920. It is made of limestone and features knapped flint panels in two piers at the ends of wrought iron railings, aligned with the graveyard wall. The memorial consists of a tall carved stone cross that faces south, set on a base of three octagonal steps that are inscribed with names. The top step is square and has relief lettering in panels. There is a large inscribed socket block with chamfered corners and top, supporting a tall tapering shaft that is decorated with a running vine scroll down the angles. The memorial is topped with an octagonal moulded cap and a crucifix that has octagonal boss terminals. Additionally, there are octagonal moulded caps on the square piers at each end of the gap formed in the graveyard wall.
