Description

Blacksmiths Cottage and attached forge is a late 18th-century building of regular coursed limestone with slate and pantile roofs. It has a 2-unit plan and originally a 2-window front, now with C20 casements in the original openings, each beneath a wooden lintel. A central plank door is also set beneath a wooden lintel. The building has ashlar gable parapets with kneelers to the left and brick stacks at the ends. Inside, the cottage features spine beams with run-out stops, an open fireplace with a 19th-century range, and plank doors. The attached forge, located at a right angle to the right return, retains some original features.
