Description

SP 91 NE EDLESBOROUGH THE GREEN

5/20 No. 1 (Old Thatch) - - II

House. 2 late C16 bays to centre with flanking C17-C18 single bay extensions. Timber-frame, exposed in left gable and with 2 posts showing to front. Front rebuilt in whitewashed brick. Thatched roof, rebuilt brick chimney between left bays, smaller chimney between right bays. 1 ½ storeys, 4 bays. Left bay has small C17 3-light casement, partly leaded, in thatch, single leaded casement below eaves in line with chimney, and C20 single wooden casement below. Remainder has 2 and 3- light wooden casements, those to ground floor barred and with cambered heads, those to first floor in thatch. C20 doors to left and centre. Later extensions to rear with small half-timbered and thatched wing at right-angles. Interior shows timber frame to rear walls and trusses, and heavy curved wind-braces to centre bays. Stop-chamfered spine beams, that in right bay C20.
