Description
Nos. 52 and 54 High Street are two houses dating from the 17th century that have been altered over time. They feature a timber frame with regular rectangular panels of old brick infill. The left bay was mostly rebuilt in the mid-19th century using white brick. The houses have an old tiled roof that is hipped to the right, with brick chimneys on the left and between the right bays, and another brick chimney on the centre of the rear wing. The structure is L-shaped and consists of two storeys with three bays on the front. The windows are 20th-century wooden casements with cambered heads, toplights, and imitation leading, along with an additional small casement in a blocked doorway to the right. The left bay features a lean-to porch added in 1982, with a door on the left side. The rear wing includes irregular 20th-century casements and doors, along with 20th-century extensions at the far end. Inside, the ground floor and first floor rooms in the front right corner have moulded spine beams.
