Description

This milestone, likely dating from the early 19th century, is made of painted dressed stone and has a semi-circular shape on a square base with broaches. It is inscribed with "S : K.L./8 : 2¼", where "S" stands for Sedbergh and "KL" stands for Kirkby Lonsdale. The milestone is located on the turnpike road from Sedbergh to Greta Bridge, which was established in 1763.
