Description

This milestone, located approximately 320 metres south of Middleton Bridge, dates from the early 19th century. It is made of painted stone and has a semi-circular shape on a square base with broaches. The inscription reads "S:KL/3:7¾", indicating the distance to Sedbergh and Kirkby Lonsdale. This milestone is situated on the turnpike road from Sedbergh to Greta Bridge, which was established in 1762.
