Description

This milestone, located approximately 200 meters north of Sorrowsdyke Lane, is likely from the early 19th century. It is made of painted stone and has a semi-circular shape on a square base with broaches. The inscription reads "S:K.L./6:4¾", with a benchmark positioned above the base. This milestone is situated on the turnpike road from Sedbergh to Greta Bridge, which was established in 1762. The letters "S" and "KL" stand for Sedbergh and Kirkby Lonsdale, respectively.
