Description
The Hill is a house dated 1712, with some alterations. It is constructed of rubble and has a stuccoed front, topped with a stone slate roof. The building features a two-unit main range with a large rear wing. It stands three storeys high and has four windows across the front, with a plain doorway at the center that includes an old oak door and an iron latch plate. A moulded panel is inscribed with "RW 1712." There are four sash windows on each of the main floors and two windows on the second floor. The house has gable chimneys, with the right chimney being corbelled and both having cylindrical shafts; there is a similar chimney on the rear wing. The Hill is noted to have been the home of Robert Willan, a distinguished dermatologist who lived from 1757 to 1812. The house is said to be similar in date, plan, and elevation to High Oaks.
