Description
This railway underbridge, built for the Ingleton branch of the Lancaster to Carlisle railway, features rock-faced stone with some ashlar. It has a round arch made of rock-faced voussoirs, with a frieze and cornice above. The parapet is topped with ashlar coping, and there are raking abutments. Timber gate piers and elaborately designed timber gates mark the entrance to Whelprigg. This structure is included for its group value.
