Description
This is a public footbridge over a railway cutting on the Leeds to Thirsk Railway, built between 1845 and 1849 by engineer Thomas Grainger. The bridge is constructed from coursed rock-faced sandstone and features a semicircular arch made of rusticated voussoirs, with those at the apex on the north side appearing to be rendered on brick, possibly indicating a repair. There are two tie-plates near the apex, and battered piers flank the arch. The bridge has a roll-moulded cornice and a parapet with flat coping, which is topped by modern iron railings. It is included for its group value.
