Description

The portal to the south entrance of the Bramhope railway tunnel, located on the Leeds to Thirsk Railway, was constructed between 1845 and 1849. The engineer responsible for its design was Thomas Grainger. The portal is made of sandstone and features a horseshoe arch with rusticated run-out voussoirs, along with a cornice and parapet.
