Description

Dean Grange Farmhouse and the attached barn date from the mid to later 18th century. The farmhouse is built of coursed squared sandstone with quoins and has stone slate roofs. It features a double-depth, four-room plan, is two storeys high, and has three bays that are almost symmetrical. The doorway is offset to the left of center and has a plain surround, protected by a small modern porch. There is a vertical rectangular window on each floor to the left, although the glazing has been altered, and a three-light window on each floor to the right, which has flat-faced flush-mullions and plain surrounds. Another window is located at the first floor above the door but is concealed by creeper. The house has gable chimneys and gable copings.

At the rear, there is a tall cross-window stairlight, a two-light window at ground floor to the left, and a three-light window above. The barn is attached at a right angle to the right-hand side of the rear of the house. It is a long range with a segmental-headed wagon entrance in the second bay, which is blocked and has an inserted doorway, now covered by a lean-to garage that is not included in the listing. Further to the rear of the barn, there is a stable door flanked by square windows, and a square loading door above the second of these windows. The interiors have not been inspected.
