Description
Bellgate Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the 18th century and incorporates earlier elements. It is constructed of roughcast stone and has a slate roof. The west elevation features two storeys and two bays. The windows have chamfered reveals and were originally designed with flat mullions and two lights. The second bay on the ground floor has a two-light mullioned window with sashes that include single glazing bars and horns, while the first-floor window has a sash with vertical glazing bars and horns. The first bay contains casement windows. A central entrance is framed by a gabled porch. The building has gable-end stacks. The right side of the farmhouse includes entrances for a dovecote and a wide verge, while the rear wing features a two-light mullioned window. The rear of the building has casement windows. Inside, there are chamfered beams, and one beam in the rear wing has a moulded design with run-out stops, likely from the 16th century.
