Description

Milestone located by The Grange, likely from the early 19th century. It is made of painted stone and has a semicircular shape on a square base with broaches. The inscription reads "S:K.L./9:l¾", and the base is marked with "CASTERTON". This milestone is situated on the turnpike road from Sedbergh to Greta Bridge, which was established in 1762.
