Description

This milestone, located on the north side of the road approximately 20 meters west of Craggs Hill in Dentdale, dates from the early to mid 19th century. It is made of dressed sandstone and has remnants of whitewash. The milestone features a square plinth with chamfered corners and a semicircular shaft that is inscribed with "S / 3" and has a rounded top. At the time of inspection, it was almost hidden by vegetation. This milestone is one of a series of 11 in the parish.
