Description

The Green is a house that was formerly two cottages and a stable, dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. It is built of coursed rubble with a stone slate roof. The building has a direct entry, with the stable on the left and the earliest cottage in the center. It is two storeys high and features three first-floor windows. The stable and the original two cottages are separated by straight joints.

On the left, the stable has a board door and a fixed window. The central cottage has a three-fielded-panel door set in a massive chamfered stone surround, with a casement window in an enlarged opening to the left and a fixed window in a chamfered stone surround, showing evidence of a former mullion to the right. The right end cottage features a half-glazed panel door within a doorcase that has a pulvinated frieze and cyma cornice. To the right, there is a plate glass sash window.

On the first floor, there are two fixed windows in the stable, and the central cottage has casements in chamfered stone surrounds, also showing evidence of former mullions. The right end cottage has one plate glass sash and one nine-pane unequal sash window. The gable has coping with a shaped kneeler on the right, and there are stacks at both the end and ridge of the building.
