Description
Wrathmire Farmhouse is a house and cottage, now functioning as a house, dating from the 17th century with alterations from the 18th century. It is built of gritstone rubble and has a graduated stone slate roof. The structure is two stories high and features three bays, with what is likely an added cottage bay on the right side. The building has quoins, and the original house has no openings in the first bay. There is a 20th-century panelled door located between the second and third bays, which has chamfered quoined jambs and a plain lintel.
On either side of the door are recessed chamfered mullioned windows: a three-light window to the left and a six-light window with a king mullion to the right. Both the door and windows are set beneath a continuous stepped dripmould. The first floor has two three-light windows with flat-faced mullions, and a small stone plaque is situated between them. The cottage to the right features a board door in a chamfered surround, a four-light window to the left, and a two-light window above, both of which are likely restored. There is a large ashlar ridge stack located between the first and second bays of the original range, as well as a large rubble stack between the original and added ranges. The interior was not inspected during the resurvey.
