Description
This building is a barn located approximately 20 meters to the north-west of Archer's Hall in Sedbergh. It dates from the 18th century and has been altered. The barn is constructed of roughly-coursed rubble with some quoins, featuring a roof primarily made of stone slate, with blue slate on the upper courses and a stone ridge. It has a rectangular plan that runs at right angles to the lane and likely consists of four structural bays.
On the south side, which faces higher ground, there is a wagon doorway in the third bay, protected by a full-height lean-to porch. To the left of this doorway, there are small square breathers on two levels. The north side has five shippon doorways with massive lintels, a small two-light window situated between the third and fourth doorways, and a former loading doorway at the upper level between the second and third bays; the lower half of this doorway is now blocked with matching masonry. Additionally, there are breathers similar to those on the south side, positioned on three levels. The interior has not been inspected. This barn forms a group with Archer's Hall and a small barn located to the north of Archer's Hall.
