Description
This small barn and byre, located approximately 30 meters north of Archer's Hall, likely dates from the early 18th century. It is constructed from roughly coursed large mixed rubble, featuring quoins and some through-stones, topped with a stone slate roof that includes some blue slates. The barn has a rectangular four-bay plan oriented on a north-south axis.
On the west side, which faces the lane, there is a segmental-headed wagon doorway in the second bay, characterized by long rubble voussoirs and remnants of a stone slate drip-band, along with several small square breathers. The east side, which opens into the farmyard and also contains some through-stones, features a doorway in the south bay and another near the north end, both equipped with large oak lintels and prominent stone slate drip-bands. The first doorway has a stable door, while the second leads to recessed doorways. There is also a small rectangular opening in the center and additional small square breathers.
Inside, the barn is now furnished with shippon stalls. It forms a group with Archer's Hall and the bank barn located to the west of Archer's Hall.
