Description
This barn and byre, located approximately 5 metres west of Armistad Farmhouse, dates from around 1734. It is constructed from limestone rubble with ashlar details and features a graduated stone slate roof. The building consists of approximately four bays and includes an outshut and a cart porch at the first two bays. It has quoins and double doors leading to the inner cart entrance, which has a round outer arch that has been rebuilt.
On the far right, there is a byre door with tripartite jambs and a large lintel, accompanied by two small windows to its left and a small square window on the first floor. The barn has shaped kneelers and gable copings. On the right side, there is a well-built flight of external steps with flat-coped side walls that leads to a board door at the first floor, which has quoined jambs. Below the steps, there is a board door for a dog-kennel entrance. The gable on the left features three rows of pigeon holes, while there are two rows of through stones. The barn is included for its group value.
