Description
Ghyll Head Cottages, originally a farmhouse, now consists of two cottages dating from the mid to late 17th century, with 19th and 20th-century alterations. The right-hand cottage features pebbledash with painted stone dressings and a slate roof. It has two storeys and two bays. The entrance on the left is in an early 20th-century porch with a plain surround, leading to a six-panel door with the upper four panels glazed. The right-hand ground floor has a 20th-century casement window. On the upper floor, there is a left-hand basket arched chamfered window and a right-hand three-light chamfered mullioned window, which includes casements and fixed lights. A ridge stack is located on the right-hand gable end. The left-hand cottage is constructed of limewashed rubble with a slate roof. Its upper floor features a former two-light chamfered mullioned window, although the mullion is now missing and the sill has been lowered. There is a projecting ridge stack on the left-hand gable end.
