Description
Incledon Cottage and Kentisbury Cottage are a pair of cottages, likely dating from the late 17th or early 18th century, and extended in the 20th century. The external walls are a mix of whitewashed rendered rubble and cob. The roof is thatched, with a quarter-hip on the left side and brick stacks at the right end and two tall projecting lateral rubble stacks to the rear, featuring tapered caps and slate weatherings. One stack to the right has a slated offset and both are enclosed within outshuts with roofs of varying pitches. The roof materials are slate on the right and a combination of corrugated asbestos and tiled sections to the left, flanking a flat-roofed two-storey extension in the centre. Originally, the cottages probably had a three-room and cross-passage plan, now with a 20th-century bay added to the right end. The front has a six-window range of 2-light casements; the left three have early 20th-century windows with three panes per light, while those on the right have metal casements. A small eyebrow dormer is present above one of the windows on the left. The left-hand cottage has a 3-light and a 2-light window, each with three panes per light, to the left of a 20th-century porch and door. The right-hand cottage features 3-light windows with eight panes per light, bracketing a 20th-century doorway with a lean-to slate roofed rubble porch and a 2-light casement with six panes per light to its right. The interior has been significantly altered.
