Description
Millies Cottage is a church ale-house, formerly known as the Victoria Inn, now a house, likely dating from the 17th century, with a datestone of 1678. It has been extended and remodeled in the 19th century. The building is constructed of roughcast rendered stone rubble, with a thatched roof on the right end bay and a slated roof elsewhere. It features diagonally set brick chimneys, with the one on the right being rebuilt. Originally, it had two cells with a bay added at the right end. The cottage is two storeys high and has a four-window range of 20th-century timber sashes set in 18th and 19th-century exposed sash boxes, with four panes over eight panes. The 19th-century door is off-centre with six panels, where the middle panels are glazed, and there is a shallow canopy above it. To the right, there is a small datestone that has been reset, reading 1F/CF 1678. A single-storey flat-roofed extension is located at the right end. Inside, there is a fireplace with a scroll stop lintel, and one principal of the 17th-century roof remains, featuring threaded purlins.
