Description

Perrymans One is a house dating from the 17th century, situated on Netherham’s Hill in Georgeham. The house is built of colourwashed rendered rubble and cob, with a thatched roof hipped at the left end and gabled to the right. It retains a 3-cell and cross passage plan, although the upper end has been demolished and rebuilt as a single-storey extension with a corrugated roof. Two rubble stacks are present; one at the left end (adjacent to the road), and a lateral stack with slate weathering at the rear. The front of the house has a 3-window range: two 2-light casements with glazing bars to the left, and a 3-light casement to the right. The right-hand side also features three 2-light casements with glazing bars and an off-centre doorway with a half-hipped thatched roof and a half-glazed 20th-century door. The stack to the upper end preserves a chamfered fireplace lintel. Outshuts to the rear are now covered by a thatched catslide roof and slated roofs.
