Description

The Bradford Potholers Club, originally a farmhouse, dates from the late 17th century and was refronted in the mid to late 18th century, with a late 18th-century right-hand bay and 20th-century alterations. The building is constructed of squared limestone watershot rubble with millstone grit dressings and has a slate roof. It was originally two storeys and double fronted, but now features three bays. The former central entrance has a plain surround and a door from around 1970. There are two ground floor windows and two upper floor windows, all three-light flat-faced mullioned, with 20th-century casements and fixed lights. A slate dripmould is present on the ground floor. The right-hand bay includes an entrance with a plain surround and a door from around 1970, alongside a ground floor window from around 1970 and an upper floor three-light flat-faced mullioned window with 20th-century casements and fixed lights. The building features three rows of projecting slate throughs. The left-hand gable end has former right of centre and right-hand gable ridge stacks. At the rear, there are late 17th-century windows, including a three-light chamfered mullioned window and a similar right-hand ground floor double chamfered window, although the mullions are now missing. On the upper floor, there are two former two-light chamfered mullioned windows with square caps, also missing their mullions. A central 18th-century staircase window with a transom is present. The front right-hand room contains a kitchen fireplace from around 1800 with a corbelled mantle, while an upper floor bedroom features a fireplace from around 1800 with moulded imposts and a mantle.
