Description

Green Gates Farmhouse is a farmhouse with origins in the 18th century, dated 1781, and altered in the 20th century. It is built of squared limestone rubble with dressings of millstone grit, and has a stone slate roof. The farmhouse is two storeys high with two bays. The central entrance has a plain surround on square bases, with a lintel inscribed "IF EF 1781," and a nine-panel door. There are two ground-floor and three upper-floor windows, each with plain projecting surrounds and sash windows with glazing bars. The gable ends feature shaped kneelers and coping, and shaped eaves modillions. Gable end ridge stacks are also present. The rear entrance has a moulded surround and lintel inscribed "F 17 TA 12," and a single ground-floor window and three upper-floor windows that reuse earlier 18th-century double chamfered surrounds. A ground-floor window on the left-hand side is a 2-light double chamfered mullioned window.
