Description

Glebe Cottage is a building that was formerly two adjoining cottages, now used as a single residence. It likely dates from the early 18th century and has undergone some alterations in the 20th century. The exterior features painted roughcast rendered stone rubble and cob, topped with an asbestos slate roof that has gable ends, with the smaller cottage on the right having a lower ridge level. There is a brick chimney stack on the left gable end with offsets, and a rendered stack on the right gable end.

The layout includes a symmetrical two-room plan with a central staircase for the left-hand cottage, while the smaller right-hand cottage has a one-room plan with direct entry, and the staircase has been removed. The building has two storeys and a three-window range that is symmetrical to the left-hand cottage. The windows are early 20th-century, featuring all two-light casements with six panes per light, except for the ground floor left window, which has eight panes per light. There is a 20th-century gabled porch, and the inner door is raised and fielded with six panels, three of which are glazed. The right-hand cottage has a single three-light window with three panes per light above a brick porch with a gabled tiled roof, located to the left of a two-light casement with six panes per light. The interior has been mainly altered in the 20th century, but some 19th-century joinery remains.
